Siriporn

Shaun Groves has asked for Stories of Compassion, about the children we sponsor, so here is one of mine:

I’d like to introduce you to Siriporn, the girl I sponsor in Thailand.  I’ve been sponsoring her since 1996.  I knew she was special from the first day.  Her letters talked about working hard in school, learning about Jesus, and the activities in her Compassion project.  Two summers ago, I got the most exciting news.  Siriporn had been accepted to Compassion’s Leadership Development Program.  I wasn’t surprised, because she had shown leadership qualities even as a young girl.  She helped her teachers in the project, taught younger children and helped lead worship services.  She also participated in numerous leadership camps, in a radio ministry and in evangelistic hikes through the mountainous regions of her country.  She said the trips were very difficult, but taught her to depend more on God.  Now, through the Leadership Development Program, she is getting a college degree in Biology Technology.  She is also being taught leadership and Bible study skills, and how to be a servant leader to her community.  I can’t tell you had proud I am of her.  She has worked so hard, ministered to her friends and classmates, and continues to shine a light everywhere she goes.   Who knows how many hundreds of people she has already touched by her life?  I know she has touched mine.  It is my prayer that I can meet her and attend her graduation in a couple of years.
