Nearly Froze His Tail Off

Now, here is a great firefighter story. The way I figure it, St. Bernards have been rescuing people from icy conditions for decades.  It was time for the favor to be returned.  This gentle giant managed to get stuck to the ice on his big, furry “behind.”  I can only imagine the sleepless night that both the owners and “Duke” had Thursday night.  But I’m glad it turned out so well.  Check out the full story here in the Billings Gazette.

I’ll bet more than the dog got sopping wet, too.  Even drying him off at the shelter could’ve been a tricky task.  I just watched a friend (who has only one arm, incidentally) giving his dog a bath in one of those “pet wash” booths at the local car wash.  It was hilarious.  I don’t know who got the wettest.  A second man entered the booth to help the first one, and both kept stepping back as far as they could in the small cubicle from time to time to let the dog shake.  It was pretty fun to watch.  Good entertainment while I was awaiting my turn in the car wash.  All of them were laughing, including the dog.

Now, that said — how about rescuing a few kids – more than 137,000 children are awaiting sponsors, not only to free them from the weather conditions, but also from hunger, loneliness, illiteracy, the danger of the streets, health risks and godlessness.Learn more about sponsoring a child.
