Please Pray

Jan.20.2007.jpg 043This precious friend, Jamie, has been heavy on my heart overnight.  He is a youth pastor and was belaying kids on a climbing wall when something went wrong.  He ended up smashing into the cliff and broke his jaw bone in several places, and also the bone above his eyebrow.  The jaw was repaired surgically but will be wired shut for 6 weeks.  Jamie is married (to another Jamie) and they have two little girls.  He has a very large youth group and will no doubt need a lot of help with it for the rest of the summer.  I dreamed about them last night — that I offered to help take care of their girls (although I don’t live in the same town, and don’t think they probably need a lot of help with their own children).

There was also a funny twist to the dream — Jamie was answering his cell phone and was speaking like Donald Duck at first, and then he laughed and spoke in his own voice; he was just teasing his brother, pretending his voice had changed.  At least he still had his sense of humor, at least in a dream.

Jamie and Jamie have been through so much this past year — two of Jamie’s brothers died in separate incidents.  Jamie also had broken his achilles tendon (twice) and had to have surgery.  We are thankful this injury wasn’t as serious as it could have been; he did not have brain injury or a broken neck.  Still, it will be a long recovery.  They’ve been through a lot, and I just ask all of you to be praying for them as God brings them to mind.  We love them both dearly.
