Here are the last quotes from my Word of the Year for this week. I’m particularly alert to the use of the word “Presence” this year in my devotions.
From His palace He heard my call; my cry brought me right into His presence — a private audience! –2 Samuel 22:7b (MSG)
It was a horrible sin these young servants were committing — and right in the presence of God! — desecrating the holy offerings to God. In the midst of all this, Samuel, a boy dressed in a priestly linen tunic, served God. — 1 Samuel 2:17-18 (MSG)
So, friends, we can now–without hesitation–walk right up to God, into ‘the Holy Place.’ Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The ‘curtain’ into God’s presence is his body. — Hebrews 10:21 (MSG)
Elisha prayed, and the assistant saw the chariots of fire protecting them (2 Kings 6:16-17). God enabled the young man to see the powers of his realm that totally interpenetrated and upheld the visible reality around him. How we need Elishas today who, by life and teaching and prayer, might open our eyes to see the reality of God’s presence all around us. — Dallas Willard, Hearing God, 3/19
You know me inside and out, you hold me together, you never fail to stand me tall in your presence so I can look you in the eye. — Psalm 41:12 (MSG)
