Willy Ouma spoke at our church about the school he manages in Uganda through Give Hope Ministries. His plan is brilliant — to have 150 paying students and 150 orphans. This will help the school to be sustainable and not have to rely on charity indefinitely. The students’ families who are able to pay will (knowingly) pay a little bit more than necessary in order to cover the costs of the orphaned classmates. He does need help to get started though, as housing units are needed for the orphans, as well as school supplies, food and professional teachers.
Please check out his website here and you will see what an excellent plan it is. Here is an excellent film where Willy describes the needs in his community and how he plans to help the children.
I’m so thankful we got to spend time with Willy again. He’s an amazing, gentle, kind and selfless person, and a true friend!
