While in Lima we had some time to tour the city, especially near the city square where the Cathedral stands.
It’s always interesting to step inside a cathedral and see all the beautiful artwork.
These ancient music books were huge!
We had a peak into the crypt.
Also, Francisco Pizarro is buried in this cathedral.
When we came outside we saw a lot of guards near the church.
We went walking and came across some other interesting scenes. Here are some of the other smaller churches.
When we got back to the square we could see the large Presidential palace.
Now we knew why there was so much security — there was a band playing and some kind of ceremonial event under way. Crowds of people had shown up.
We think we may have seen the President of Peru. At any rate, it’s a lovely city to tour.
