My parents really enjoyed living in the West. They participated in many of the activities of a typical mountainous region.
In addition, my dad loved working in his shop.
He made all the cabinets in his house, as well as a lot of furniture and fun items, such as this rocking horse.
He had a model train in his shop.
He taught me how to cane a chair.
My mother taught us how to knit and sew.
She always played games with us, even when she broke her ankle.
My parents also loved to travel. This photo of my mom and sister was taken on the Delta Queen, when we travelled (courtesy of my dad) on the Mississippi River by steamboat from St. Louis to Minneapolis.
Finally, here they are together on one of the “Flying Jayhawk” trips to Europe.
