Grandpa and the Refuge

I think all of our family spent time with my dad in the elk refuge.  He always had another item he needed to document on the records, and we went along for the ride.  Here’s Sarah with Grandpa at the Miller House, and he’s explaining the Time Capsule he helped prepare for the Centennial of the National Wildlife Refuge System in 2003.

I wrote about this earlier and about the artifacts he and my sister located and placed in the Miller house for others to see.

Sarah and I spent a lot of time with Grandpa on the refuge.

All the other grandchildren did too, as did friends that visited him.  Here are some photos of Jeremy helping Grandpa with the project.

Grandpa was always good at getting someone else to do something he wasn’t comfortable doing himself.  He even talked about tying a piece of string on an animal and making it run through one of the culverts to get the length of it (under a road), but decided it wasn’t necessary to try it with Patti.  We did a lot of exploration together though.
