MOPS and Compassion

Would you agree with this statement?  “Christian mothers who care deeply about their children also care deeply about helping other children in need.”  I’m not surprised that the MOPS [Mothers of Preschoolers] organization has partnered with Compassion International in many ways, because it’s a perfect fit.  Mothers that attend MOPS are usually very eager to help children in need; they just don’t know which company they can trust. I’m here to say that I trust Compassion International, and I’ll tell you why.

When our children were small, I felt the desire to help a child in poverty as well, but didn’t know which company I could trust.  I prayed about it for months.  Then one day I was out for lunch with a missionary friend (from Haiti) on furlough.  She was talking about a recent hurricane, and I asked what happened to the poor in these situations.  She said, without a blink, “Well, of course, the children that were in Compassion didn’t miss a single meal.”  I quickly asked if she was talking about Compassion International (she was).  She then told me all about the organization from her perspective as a Missionary Doctor — about its integrity, effectiveness and responsibility.  In fact, several of the nurses in her clinic were formerly sponsored children!  [Years later, I found out that Dr. Marilyn is a personal friend of Compassion’s President, Dr. Wess Stafford].  I immediately called Compassion to sponsor a child in Haiti; I was so pleased to finally have a clear answer from the Lord.

I believe that if caring mothers realize that they can trust this company, and really change the life of a child in need, they will sponsor children, just as the ones below did.
